“DRAMA EDUCATION IN MUSEUMS” FOR PRESCHOOL TEACHERS

Mersin University has spearheaded a significant initiative to promote innovative approaches in preschool education. Organized under the auspices of the Mersin University Continuing Education Application and Research Center—in collaboration with the Faculty of Education’s Department of Preschool Education and the Child Education Application and Research Center—a comprehensive training program titled "Drama Education in Museums" was held for preschool teachers and teacher candidates.
The training took place at the Mersin Archaeology Museum.
Aimed at integrating cultural heritage with preschool education through drama techniques, the event was hosted within the historic atmosphere of the Mersin Archaeology Museum. Led by the Center’s Director, Prof. Dr. Emine Yılmaz Bolat, and Ali Asgar Tasouji, the training provided participants with hands-on instruction on how museum settings can be actively utilized for child education through creative drama methods, as well as how to effectively and efficiently leverage out-of-school learning environments.
The four-hour session, held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 09:30 to 12:30, drew strong interest from both current preschool teachers and aspiring educators. Designed to support the professional development of the participants, the program served as a valuable guide, equipping teachers with the tools to foster an awareness of history and culture in children through creative means. The training was offered free of charge, and participants were awarded certificates upon completion. It has been announced that those who wish to obtain further information about the event or stay informed about similar training programs may contact the Continuing Education Application and Research Center (MEÜSEM), located at the Mersin University Yenişehir Campus, by calling (0324) 361 00 93 or by sending an email to sem@mersin.edu.tr.
