Department Of Biology

     The Department of Biology was established in 1992 and started its education and training activities within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The four-year undergraduate (BSc) program, master's (MSc)  and doctoral programs (PhD)  are carried out . The aim of the Biology department is to train biologists equipped with knowledge and skills to work in both theoretical and applied biology fields. Students of the Biology department can serve in educational institutions if they gain the necessary education formation. In addition to the compulsory courses, there are also elective courses in our department. If the graduates of this program get enough points from KPSS, they can be appointed as biology teachers by MEB. In addition, they can take part in institutions under the Ministry of Health and Social Aid, institutions affiliated to the Ministry of Agriculture, food and pharmaceutical industry, National Parks, aquaculture and agricultural control services, quality control and R&D laboratories. Our department divided under four subdepartments namely General Biology, Botany, Molecular Biology and Zoology.  8 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, 1 Research Assistant Dr. of 12 academic staff and one secretary work.

In Our department education  and research  focuses on subjects such, Biochemistry, Genetics, Ecology, Plant and Animal Systematics, Toxicology,  Cancer Biology, Plant-Animal Phsiology and Conservation Biology. 

Our department contributes to the increase of knowledge, skills and experience by sending students who meet the necessary conditions within the framework of the ERASMUS program to universities abroad.
